identity noun (identities): the individual characteristics by which a person or thing can be identified; individuality; personality.
Identity Youth Theatre opened it's doors in 2013. With a love of theatre at the heart of everything we do, Identity has built a growing family of members who come together each week to have fun, make new friends, learn new skills and create some truly fantastic performances.
Our weekly focus is Drama but we bring specialist singing and dance coaches in for our performances. We firmly believe that all aspects of theatre should be fun and relaxed - it's called a 'Play' for a reason and we approach all our performances with this in mind. We have found that happy and relaxed performers will produce amazing work.
Taking part in at least two performances a year, including one musical, we aim to introduce our members to all sorts of different styles of performance. Alongside our stage productions we have written and recorded radio plays in a professional studio, created a choral beat poem, learnt African drumming and gumboot dancing, devised performances, been taught circus skills, performed street theatre and much, much more.
